Men of Promise - San Gabriel Mission Parish

    I am a member of Mission Parish and attend Men of Promise fellowships. I’d like to tell you what this ministry means to me. To be honest, I struggle to be a good Catholic man. Some Sundays, it is all I can do to just get to Mass. And once I’m there, it's sometimes hard for me to find the relevance of Mass and our Faith to my every-day life.

    But when I get together with my fellow Men of Promise and pray, discuss Holy Scripture, laugh, and sometimes cry, I become re-focused on my goal: to "keep the faith” and continue my walk in the Lord Jesus Christ. In this fellowship I have encountered a band of spiritual brothers willing to encourage me, console me, and challenge me to be the best man I can be for myself, my wife, my family, my parish, and the world.

    I have found that Men of Promise are real men. We talk straight-talk about the real challenges and temptations we encounter as we try to follow Jesus. We talk about real setbacks and real victories in the battle against the forces of evil. These men have become my good friends when I’ve had to give up other friendships that were spiritually toxic.

    I’d like to invite you to let Men of Promise minister to you. We don’t claim to be the answer to all your prayers. Just trust that you are welcome to this unique ministry. We are here for each other; and we are here for you. We pray for you and we ask that you pray for us.
